Ferrari and its Industrial Designs

By: Carmen Méndez, Intellectual Property Associate

From a conceptual perspective, an industrial design is an invention aimed at providing an innovative solution to a specific problem, and according to the Intellectual Property Law, an Industrial Design protects any two-dimensional or three-dimensional form that, when incorporated into a utilitarian product, gives it a special appearance, and that is suitable to serve as a type or model for its manufacture. However, as an invention, it not only focuses on the aesthetic aspects of the products but also seeks to improve their general functionality qualities, in relation to meeting the needs of users.

Ferrari is one of the manufacturers of sports cars that stands out globally for its innovative designs, whom we represent at Romero Pineda for over 10 years, and whom we advise on the protection of their designs in El Salvador.

Over the years, Ferrari has positioned itself as one of the leaders in innovation in the automotive industry. From luxury vehicles to racing cars, Ferrari continues to break barriers in perfecting its designs.

With more than 50 designs filed in El Salvador, Ferrari's meticulous work on every detail stands out, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality of each of its automobiles. This can be seen in the various awards it has won for the appearance and innovation of its vehicles.

Similarly, as Ferrari is one of the biggest competitors in Formula 1, its designs are not only characterized by being exclusively aesthetic but also provide a high level of functionality and safety to each of its vehicles, as even the tiniest detail counts, which can determine the outcome of each race.

With almost 100 years in the market, Ferrari and its designs stand out above other racing teams, and have been recognized worldwide for the speed, luxury, quality, safety, and appearance of each of its products, making it one of the largest companies in its field.

And at Romero Pineda, we are proud to be the ultimate protectors of their industrial designs.
