Dr. Roberto Romero Pineda is a founding partner of ROMERO PINEDA Firm, established in 1978, and has been at the helm as president since its inception. Prior to this role, he began his legal practice in various positions within the Salvadoran judicial system and has served as an advisor to several prominent regional companies.

Dr. Romero Pineda's professional career includes extensive experience advising various accredited embassies in El Salvador, such as the embassies of Mexico, Guatemala, and Peru. From 1998 to 2002, he served as the honorary consul of Peru in El Salvador, receiving a decoration in 2005 from the Republic of Peru with the “Order of Merit for Distinguished Services” medal. Since 2014 to the present, he has been serving as the honorary consul of Guatemala in El Salvador.

His foray into diplomacy, coupled with his expertise in Intellectual Property, led to his appointment as legal counsel for the Republic of Peru in the internationally relevant case concerning the designation of origin for Pisco. This particular interest in diplomacy drove him to pursue a master's degree in diplomacy and international relations offered by the Universidad Tecnologica.

In the realm of international treaties, he has served as legal advisor for the private sector in various negotiations. He acted as an advisor to the Salvadoran Association of Industrialists (ASI) during the negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement between Central America and Mexico (FTA), specifically in the dispute settlement and Intellectual Property discussions. He also participated as an advisor to the Organization for Support to the Productive Sector in International Trade Negotiations (ODASP) in all negotiation rounds of the Free Trade Agreement between the United States of America and Central American countries (CAFTA), particularly in dispute and settlement Intellectual Property discussions.

He has provided counsel in drafting contracts between foreign companies and the Salvadoran government, with a focus on Arbitration Agreements and Dispute Resolution. He has been involved in Commercial Lawsuits and Arbitration, particularly excelling in negotiating claims arising from the interpretation or execution of arbitration clauses.

His expertise has been honed through courses on Arbitration in Costa Rica and Colombia conducted by the Inter-American Commission of Commercial Arbitration (CIAC). He was appointed by the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) as a candidate Arbitrator in Intellectual Property matters before the Chamber of Commerce of Colombia.

He has been a trailblazer in establishing a legal firm specializing in Intellectual Property, becoming a benchmark and eminent lawyer in the region. He is part of highly prestigious international associations and societies in the realm of business and Intellectual Property-related affairs.

His strong sense of social responsibility has led him to commit to various causes and organizations, including the Rotary Club, where he received a diploma and plaque of recognition as an Active Rotarian for over 30 years of service.
