Elsy is a Partner and Intellectual Property Manager at the firm. Throughout her career, she has worked in various legal domains, specializing in Intellectual Property, Administrative Law, and Corporate Law.

With over 15 years of dedicated work in Intellectual Property, Elsy has established herself as an expert in the field. Her experience enables her to provide clients with dynamic and innovative regional strategies for effectively managing Intellectual Property assets.

 

Her current practice involves providing legal opinions and strategies for searches, new filings, maintenance, management, and defense of Intellectual Property assets. She also advises on corporate transactions such as assignments, mergers, and other corporate procedures impacting trademarks, trade names, and other Intellectual Property rights. Her client portfolio includes internationally renowned companies.

Before joining the firm, her professional background encompassed judicial experience and practice in Intellectual Property and sanitary registrations at other legal firms with regional reach. This allowed her to gain expertise in the application of norms, criteria, and legal procedures that benefit various regional blocs.

 

Due to her experience in handling regional cases, she spearheaded the restructuring and international expansion of the firm’s Intellectual Property department. This resulted in increased and successfully managed regional portfolios, for which she is currently responsible for procedures impacting Intellectual Property portfolios across various countries worldwide.

Additionally, she advises companies with growth or expansion plans through franchises, joint ventures, and other legal structures. She currently serves as Legal Advisor to the Franchise Committee of COEXPORT and has received training in franchise consulting.

 

She has experience in teaching, especially in the fields of civil law, commercial law, and intellectual property. Additionally, she has experience in training traders and entrepreneurs on aspects of regularization of commercial activities, protection strategies, and enforcement of intellectual property rights. Some of her involvements include presenting at the «2nd SME Forum ‘Advancing in the Digital World'» by Tigo Business on the topic «Register your trademark and protect the intellectual property of your business,» and advising in the Female Entrepreneurship Clinic organized by the National Commission of Micro and Small Enterprises (CONAMYPE) through its National Women’s Entrepreneurship Program, among others.

She participated in the RP&A HER Program, which focused on providing specialized legal assistance to women entrepreneurs. Subsequently, to expand the reach of the initial program, Elsy was involved in the formation of the RP&A INNOVATION PROJECT aimed at entrepreneurs and small business owners. She currently leads this program, emphasizing strong social responsibility. Elsy also collaborates with different foundations and associations working to improve conditions in our country, especially those that focus on enhancing the quality of life for children and women in El Salvador.

 

Elsy is certified as a Change Management Practitioner by ISEADE – FEPADE / Change Americas, Colombia.

She is a member of the Salvadoran Association of Intellectual Property (ASPI) and the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI). Additionally, she is part of the Trademark Office Practice Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and holds membership in legal and Intellectual Property committees in various chambers in El Salvador, such as the British-Salvadoran Chamber of Commerce and the legal committee of AMCHAM-El Salvador.

Besides her Bachelor’s degree in Legal Sciences from the Dr. José Matías Delgado University and her notarial qualification, Elsy holds postgraduate degrees in International Business from the Higher Institute of Economics and Business Administration (ISEADE-FEPADE), as well as in Business Law from the Higher Institute of Economics and Business Administration (ISEADE-FEPADE) in partnership with ESEADE, Argentina. She also completed a regional master’s program in Central American Integration and Development from the Central American University in Nicaragua, Rafael Landívar University in Guatemala, and José Simeón Cañas Central American University in El Salvador. Furthermore, she has undergone training in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Mediation, Conciliation, and Arbitration, among other courses and diplomas.
