Mrs. Karla Alas has been an Associate Attorney of Romero Pineda & Asociados, and member of the Litigation Division since 1997. She is also the Legal Coordinator of Client Services Management of the Firm.
Since she joining the Firm, Karla has advised and coordinated oppositions incident against conflictive trademarks and confusingly similar trademarks. Also she has experience in Intellectual Property; Registral Law; Litigation; Mercantile and Civil Law; Mediation; Consumer Protection Law; Procedures before customs authorities. She also provides legal support in mediation and conciliation matters.
Karla obtained her Law Degree from Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado in San Salvador, in 2006. She has recived seminars in intellectual property from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). She has received training in regards to trademark counterfeiting in Panama, on Cyber Law by the National Science and Technology Council (CONACYT) and in marketing by Mónica Herrera Communications School.
Karla has attended seminars on constitutional and criminal law at Fundación de Estudios para la Aplicación del Derecho, FESPAD. Also she has attended studies on the project of the Civil and Commercial Procedures Code of El Salvador; seminars on the Competition Law by the Superintendence of Competition; seminar on Mediation and Arbitration in International Commerce, sponsored by FESPAD; seminars on Labor Law and Human Recourses sponsored by ASI (ASOCIACIÓN SALVADOREÑA DE INDUSTRIALES)
Currently Karla is pursuing her masters degree in Legal Counsel and Personal Management from the Universidad de Salamanca sponsored by Clay Formación Internacional.
