Dr. Bertrand Galindo has more than 50 years of experience in the practice of law. In addition to his position as Senior Counsel for Romero Pineda & Asociados, he is legal advisor to the Supreme Court of Justice. He is Vice-President of the Latin-American Constitutional Law Institute, Chapter El Salvador (IIDC). He was Sub Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior and legal adviser to the Ministry of Public Safety. He is a member and former Vice-President of the Inter-American Human Rights Commission.
He has enjoyed a distinguished diplomatic career in which he has served the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as ad-honorem advisor, technical advisor and General Director of Foreign Affairs. He has been the Ambassador of El Salvador to the United States of America, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Chile, and has represented El Salvador before the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS). Recently, the Council of the Order "Dr. Jose Gustavo Guerrero" granted him the medal of diplomatic merit.
He has written books on international private law, constitutional law and trial procedures and has taught university courses on constitutional law, theory of state, labor law, administrative law and private and international law.
A graduate of the National University of El Salvador, Dr. Bertrand also completed an Interdisciplinary Course on Central American Integration at the University Rodrigo Facio in Costa Rica and attended courses on European Community Institutions at the Institute of European High Studies of the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
