Mr. Castillo currently heads the
firms Litigation Division overseeing both Corporate and
Intellectual Property matters.
He is an accomplished authority
on Intellectual Property in El Salvador, having written one of
the countrys first Intellectual Property treatises. He has also
authored numerous IP articles and is professor of Intellectual
Property Rights and arbitration procedures at several local
Universities. Mr. Castillo brings over 20 years of IP experience
to support the litigation activities of the Intellectual
Property practice.
Carlos has participated in the
Central American effort to modernize regional IP legislation
through several programs of the World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO). He was appointed in 2001-2002 as part of
the legal team to advise the Salvadoran Ministry of Economy on
the new Trademark Law. Most recently he served as advisor to the
private sector in the IP negotiating table during the CAFTA-DR
negotiation rounds.
He is a member of the
Interamerican Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) and
has been working at the Legislation Analysis Sub-Committee of
INTA. He has been a member and advisor of the Graphic Designer
Association (CROMA) in El Salvador and a founding member of the
IP Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).
Mr.
Castillo graduated as an Attorney at Law from University Dr.
